Última actualización: Noviembre 2025

The journal Medicina Intensiva presents a new overview dedicated to the care and management of neurocritical patients. This special issue will include articles of all formats published in Medicina Intensiva between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2026, and addressing different aspects of the care of neurocritical patients. Thus, the issue will include articles that reflect epidemiological aspects, as well as the use of neuromonitoring techniques, neuroprognostication, management in the Intensive Care Unit, and neurorehabilitation.
The management of neurocritical patients is a challenge in our setting, given the heterogeneity of the care these patients receive and the need for specialized management, seeking to reduce mortality, minimize secondary lesions, and improve long-term outcomes. In recent years there have been important developments in invasive and non-invasive neuromonitoring techniques that have contributed to advance in the personalization of treatment. Considering the above, this is a field of special interest for less experienced intensivists. The editorial board of Medicina Intensiva hopes that this special issue will be to the liking of its readers.
